Rustenburg/ Phokeng – The case involving three suspects aged between 24 and 59 arrested for car theft in Phokeng, has been remanded to Monday 16 July by the Bafokeng Magistrates' Court in Tlhabane, according to sergeant Gabaiphiwe Kgatlha, police spokesperson of the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The trio appeared on Monday 9 July facing charges of theft of motor vehicles which include a Nissan 1400, Isuzu Bakkie and Ford Ranger in Freedom Park.

A statement issued by the office of the cluster commander major general Arthur Adams stated that the suspects were using a white Toyota Quantum in the execution of their criminal activities. The Quantum was later set alight by angry community members.

The suspects’ modus operandi involved the pushing of vehicles from different yards into the streets by the suspects and thereafter they used sensors to check if the said vehicles had a tracking device.
