Rustenburg – On Saturday 3 August, at approximately 07:00 in the morning, two people died in a four-vehicle pileup along the N4 near Kroondal.

In this incident, Stephan de Meyer (44) died upon impact when the black BMW he was driving crashed head-on into a grey Hyundai.

Sarah Mokoena (37) died in a secondary accident after the vehicle she was travelling in crashed into a Toyota Prado.

The Toyota had performed an emergency stop in an effort to avoid the first accident.
Rustenburg police spokesperson captain Elsabé Augoustides said “Stephan’s vehicle was engulfed in flames shortly after impact. By the time a passenger from one of the other vehicles tried to cut Stephan’s safety belt to free him, they realised it was too late”.

Both Stephan and Sarah were declared dead by paramedics on scene.
On Sunday Gerhard Vlok (28) died in Safari Tuine after his vehicle crashed into a tree while he was travelling in Arend road.

“This accident occurred at around 01:00 in the morning,” Elsabé said.
Police are investigating the causes of both accidents.
