Our software

Yip is owned by Platinum Publishers (Pty) Ltd. It provides registered reader comments, replies, reactions and sharing, with moderation controls for the publisher.

Software licensing

The Yip software licence fee is R550.00 per month, VAT inclusive.

For licensing enquiries, contact Platinum Publishers. Licensing arrangements are agreed directly with the publisher.

Domain-use checks

Yip includes a software marker that reports its website address and version to Platinum Weekly when used outside the two Platinum publication domains. The publisher checks the public marker before sending a licence-confirmation notice to its newsroom. The notice goes only to the publisher’s newsroom; the other website receives no email. These checks contain no reader account details or comments.

Reader participation

The software licence fee is separate from reader subscriptions. Reader commenting is currently free for registered adults on the pilot article. A future reader subscription is planned at R50 per month for selected news categories; paid commenting is not currently activated.
