SHOOTOUT WITH TRANSIT SECURITY
Mooinooi – A 36-year old suspect appeared before the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 2 March 2017, facing charges of the illegal possession of a firearm, ammunition, attempted armed robbery and attempted murder.
“He was arrested on Tuesday, 28 February 2017, at a shopping complex in Mooinooi,” lieutenant colonel Pelonomi Makau, police spokesperson, said.
The arrested, and three of his accomplices, allegedly robbed a cash-in-transit security vehicle. At the time of the robbery, the transit vehicle was doing a cash pickup at the shopping complex.
The arrested suspect allegedly fired a shot at the security officials, and hit one of the officials in the hand.
The remaining three suspects fled in their getaway vehicle, but the police managed to arrest one on scene. They were quick on scene.
The suspects did not manage to get their hands on cash.
