Four arrested for Explosives at the Waterfall Mall
Rustenburg – Four culprits; three men from Paardekraal and Kanana, and one woman from Mahikeng; were arrested by the Rustenburg Police on Tuesday, 7 March 2017, for the possession of explosives.
The arrest took place in the parking area of the Waterfall Mall in the afternoon.
“We acted on a community tip-off and a stake-out operation was conducted,” Caption Elsabé Augoustides, police spokesperson, told the Platinum Weekly newspaper. “The K9 Unit searched the suspects, who were driving a white minibus. One the suspects were found in the possession of 17 Expo- gels, 18 shock tubes and five electronic detonators in his backpack.”
The explosives are valued at R30 000.00.
The suspects were arrested and appeared before the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 8 March 2017.
The four arrested confessed that additional explosives were still on the premises at the Waterfall Mall, and upon investigation, additional explosive material were found in the planted hedges in the outside parking area.
The investigation continues.
