Rustenburg – Oval fans will be glad to hear there are still two days of exiting racing ahead, but seeing as it’s Christmas, Wendy and the guys from Rustenburg Raceway will be doing things a little bit differently.
Let’s face it, 2016 has been a difficult year – but throughout the year the team from Rustenburg raceway have spent their time and energy helping those in need – as they have since 2008. Schools, children’s homes, old-age homes and the SPCA all received donations and help from the Rustenburg Raceway. Now, as 2016 draws to a close, it’s time for one final lap and one final charity run.
Wendy Kinnear told the Platinum Weekly newspaper, “Our goal for 2016 was to help the communities outside Rustenburg in need, to be able to have a Christmas with their families and just a plate of food and thanks to generous sponsors, we are well on our way to reaching our goal.”
Like any last lap, Rustenburg Raceway needs your support now more than ever. They would like to collect more clothing, food, stationary and toys for less fortunate kids.
Gates to the final weekend races open on Friday 16 December at 10:00 with great entertainment for the kids, like a ghost house, huge slides, water slides and even paint ball. For the adults there will be ‘King of the Ring’, great stalls and practice laps for the racers. There will also be the traditional ‘BIG Braai’ on the field where you can meet all the drivers.
Gate entry is a gift of above for charity or R40 entry.
On Saturday, 17 December, gates open at 10:00, and Santa will be paying a visit, posing for pictures and bringing gifts to the children. Racing starts at 17:30 with the ever exciting Bangers (Stamp Karre) and the King of the Ring Challenge.
Saturday’s entry fee will be R60 per person and any charitable donation for the less fortunate are welcome!
