Rustenburg – It was a dream come true for the 13 members of the Atletico Football Club who visited the United Kingdom to participate in the Manchester Easter International Cup.

They had to prove their worth as the international teams were all much bigger and a little older than our local team. However, they rose to the occasion and managed to score at least one goal in every game they played. A few of the lads truly shined during the tournament and were commended by other international soccer teams on their outstanding performances.

Of course, the trip wasn’t only about playing soccer, they also had the chance to watch a few live matches between prominent international teams.

When asked what the most memorable experience was, Majalefa Motsogi, the team’s goal keeper said:

“The feeling of the big guys running towards me, my heart pounding, ball in my hand and the crowd cheering.

The saves I made, the feeling is something that I will always remember.”

Thank you to every player, parent and sponsor that made this trip possible. A special thanks to Sim Tours who were one of the main sponsors in getting these boys to the UK.
