WARMING HEARTS

Rustenburg – July is traditionally one of the coldest months in Rustenburg, which is why it’s the best time to warm the hearts.

Whether it’s non-perishable food, a fresh layer of paint or a warm blanket, nothing warms the heart like being able to give to those who need it. These small gestures and donations can brighten up the coldest day.

After hearing the recent plea of the elderly living off social grants in Rustenburg, the employees at Platinum Weekly jumped into action and launched their Local Love project. 

With the assistance of staff and loyal clients who joined in to help and donate, Platinum Weekly collected food and other necessities for the elderly living in the various municipal flats in Rustenburg.

All the donations received were handed out during the annual Christmas in July celebration on 18 July and at the elderly residential flats in Church Street the following day.

Owner of Jump4Joy, Waseela Samaria, who assisted a great deal, said: “You may never know what results may come from your actions.

If you have the ability to do good, then do good for others, because the heart of a volunteer is never measured in size of the donation but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.”

Ilse Edwards, DA Ward 42 councillor wished to express her gratitude to all those involved: “On behalf of all the elderly, thank you very much for the donations. We appreciate your time and willingness to assist the elderly folks living here.”
