Rustenburg – Two suspects, aged 36 and 49, appeared before the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 9 January 2017, for the possession of drugs. The pair’s appearance in court follows their arrest by the Phokeng K9 Unit late on Friday evening, 6 January 2017.
According to Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko, police spokesperson, the Police acted on a community tip-off.
The suspects’ vehicle, with two occupants, was spotted and stopped for a search. During the search, drugs (nyaope) wrapped in 20 small colourless plastic balls, with an estimated street value of R125 000.00, weighing 555g, were found and seized.
Both suspects were arrested on the spot. One of the suspects, the 36-year old man, also has a pending case of dealing in drugs in Phokeng after being arrested in December 2016.
The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, applauded the members in arresting the suspects.
