Spare a thought for vulnerable children
Mooinooi/ Rustenburg – Background: National Child Protection Week, which is commemorated annually from 29 May to 5 June, seeks to raise awareness on the rights of children as defined in the Children’s Act and our Constitution.
Laws regarding the rights of children in this country are in line with the United Convention of the Rights of the Child and the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child. The commemoration of National Child Protection Week began in 1997 and seeks to sensitise all sectors of society on the rights of children and to ensure that they are cared for and protected. It is the responsibility of everyone to play a role in protecting children and creating a safe and secure environment for them.
It is with this in mind that Grace Help Centre is urging business organisations and individuals who want to play a positive role in the lives of vulnerable children, to help them provide a better life for the orphaned and vulnerable children in their care.
The centre is in urgent need of two washing machines and laundry baskets (for a laundry room makeover), six sets of bright curtains, 20 single bed mattresses, matching bedding and pillows for the mattresses (for a baby and toddler room makeover).
In addition, the Grace Angels Early Childhood Development Programme is looking for assistance in their planned new housing project for children aged 4 to 6 years. They also need to purchase a 21-seater bus to enable them to safely transport children to and from school when the academic calendar resumes.
Grace Help Centre is a registered non-profit organisation and a public benefit organisation and a tax rebate certificate to the value of any items donated will be issued to any sponsor.
