Rustenburg – Dust off your bird books and come armed with birding ‘apps’ as it is once again time for the annual, popular Brink Jordaan Birding Quiz.

Brink is one of the more experienced birders at BirdLife Rustenburg with a South African Life List of over 750 birds seen. This is an opportunity to show off your birding knowledge. If you feel a bit intimidated by the other bird enthusiasts, you are welcome to just enjoy the evening and learn from the others.

This will take place on Monday, 18 October, at the Methodist Church on the corner of Brink and Schuurman Streets. The meeting starts at 18:30 and members and non-members are welcome. Non-members to pay R30 per person. All Covid-19 protocols will be observed – please wear a mask and sanitise.

Feel free to contact our chairperson, Shaun McGillewie, on 083 702 1462 should you wish to learn more about the Birdlife Rustenburg and would like to attend our events. Also, if you need help with the identification of a bird, send a picture.

The Red-chested Cuckoo/ Piet-my-vrou. You know it is spring when the loud call of ‘Piet-my-vrou… Piet-my-vrou’ is heard early in the morning and at dusk.
