Rustenburg – Local government elections in Rustenburg progressed smoothly on Monday 1 November as people from various walks of life exercised their democratic right to vote.

Although the ANC polled the most votes in Rustenburg, they did not achieve the 50% threshold that would have given them a majority.

This result means the various parties that contested the election will now form coalitions to run the affairs of the local government body.

Kentse Moremi (left) and Elias Mafa from the EFF took part in the local government elections.
Daniel Tshose and Elizabeth Rakhudu said polling at the RLM offices in Tlhabane progressed smoothly.
