Wreckage found by quad bike riders, two dead
Rustenburg – Two people, a man and a woman, were found with fatal injuries after their car crashed along the N4 between Dr Moroka Drive and the R565 in Rustenburg on Saturday, 1 July 2017.
At approximately 14h00 the afternoon, paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene where they found the vehicle lying several meters down an embankment next to the highway. The wreckage was found by a group of quad bike riders. They came across the two people inside the vehicle and alerted emergency services.
Paramedics assessed the man and woman and declared that they have been dead for some time. They were declared dead on the scene.
“It is understood from another emergency services company that they responded to reports of a crash near the same area at 02h 00 that morning, but were unable to find any signs of a crash. It is not clear if the wreckage found by the quad bike riders is the same crash,” Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, said.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are not yet known. Local police attended the scene and investigations continue.
We extend our sincerest condolences to the friends and families of the deceased.
