Cutting it thin!
Mogwase – Two men accused of stock theft were remanded in police custody after they appeared before the Mogwase Magistrates’ Court on Monday 11 April.
Isaac Hazekiel Mariri (42) and Tshidi Samuel Mpete (44) will make a formal bail application at their next appearance at the same court on 25 April. They are facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and negligent handling of a firearm.
Police spokesperson colonel Adele Myburgh said the suspects were arrested in Mogwase on Saturday 9 April. Detectives from the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) and numerous police units from Rustenburg took part in the raid after they had been alerted to suspicious activities.
“A meat cutter that had been stolen from a local butchery in February 2022 was also seized by the police during the search as well as a rifle and three slaughtered cows,” Myburgh revealed.
