Rustenburg – Several employees working for a cleaning contractor at a local mine put down their brooms on Friday 29 April and went on strike.

According to one of the employees the dispute came after they received information that their employer adds 65% before invoicing the mine for their full-time contracting jobs at the mine.

One of the striking contractors also told the Platinum Weekly that during the strike, his employer recruited people from the street who have not done the required induction or medical clearance to work at the mine. He also said that he reported it to the Department of Mineral Resources for further investigation.
