Impala to fight on!
Rustenburg – Impala Rugby Club’s three teams had a disappointing outing in Pretoria on 14 May 2022 when they lost to Harlequins.
Impala’s first team lost 61-14 while the second and third teams also went down by 58-12 and 56-0 score-lines respectively.
The week before, on Saturday 7 May, Centurion Rugby Club proved too strong for Impala when the two teams met in an action-packed World Sports Betting Carlton Cup match at Impala’s home grounds.
Despite a spirited display of purposeful and aggressive rugby, Impala lost the match to a very formidable Centurion by a 71-10 margin.
Impala coach Joel Scherman said a lot of lessons were learnt by both the players and the coaches from the defeat. “There is a huge difference between the President’s League and the Carlton League – and Centurion proved to be more experienced than us at this level,” Scherman said.
Next up, Impala will play against Grizzlies in Pretoria and will be hoping for better fortunes this time around.
