Life lost on R509
Rustenburg – A 45-year old woman was killed and three others injured on Monday morning, 31 July, when the vehicle they were travelling in rolled off the R509 in the Derby area outside of Rustenburg, ER24 paramedics reported.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene shortly before 08h00 to find the light motor vehicle lying on its side, partially off the road.
One woman was found trapped inside the vehicle. She sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life.
Unfortunately, the woman had already succumbed to her injuries, and she was officially declared dead on the scene. Three other patients were immediately assessed by paramedics.
A 17-year old boy was found to have sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition while a 14-year old girl was found to have sustained moderate injuries. A man was also found to have sustained moderate injuries.
Paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured boy with advanced life support interventions. Once treated the boy was airlifted by an ER24 helicopter to a nearby hospital while the other two patients were transported via ambulance.
The cause of this incident is not yet known but local authorities are investigating.
