Rustenburg/ Phokeng – A vigilant member of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) noticed a suspicious looking vehicle in the vicinity of Boshoek near Phokeng on Sunday, 6 Aug.

The Rustenburg Flying Squad was summoned and resulted in the arrest of two suspects, aged 28 and 35 respectively. On closer inspection of the Isuzu bakkie with a closed canopy, the police found the bakkie crammed with 16 live goats, to the value of R 20 000.00.

“The livestock was positively identified by the owner residing in Moruleng Village,” captain Elsabé Augoustides, police spokesperson, said.

These suspects are thought to be linked to other cases of stock theft. Both suspects appeared briefly before the Bafokeng Magistrates’ Court in Tlhabane on Monday, 7 August.
