Rustenburg – On Saturday, 21 January 2017, the annual Bojanala Chess prize-giving ceremony took place at Hoërskool Rustenburg. 

The following prizes were awarded to Grenville High and their learners; the u/17 B, u/19 B and u/19 A teams were winners of the High School League in 2016. Grenville was also awarded the Best Chess High School for 2016. They additionally received the trophy for the most learners who participated in the South African Junior Chess Championships.

The following learners also received awards at the prize-giving for taking part in the SAJCC: u/16 A (William Diphoko, Gold; and Omphile Popane, Gold), u/16 B (Kganya Mogomotsi, Bronze), u/18 A (Tebogo Motaung, Bronze a trophy for being team captain; Regomoditswe Senne, Gold; Hellen Diale, Silver; Masego Masimong, Gold, a trophy for best player in his team), u/20 A (Onkabetse Masoko, Bronze and a trophy for being team captain; Nonofo Masoko, Gold; Phenyo Mnisi, Gold; and Remy Manale received the trophy for the most improved player for 2016).
