Rustenburg – On Sunday, 22 January 2017 at approximately 02h15, a woman residing in Hex River Village, Waterkloof, woke up to the sound of dogs barking and what sounded like a gunshot, Captain Elsabé Augoustides, police spokesperson, said.

When she got up, she was faced by two attackers in her home as they forced their way through the front door. “They demanded cash, upon which the woman explained she had none,” Captain Augoustides said.

The woman fled to her 3-year old’s bedroom, still fast asleep, and held her in her arms as a means of protecting her little girl.

While under gunpoint, the assailants robbed the woman of a JCV TV and I-Phone.

No arrests have been made thus far and Police investigations continue. The suspects fled on foot. One of the dogs were wounded by the perpetrators.

“We appeal to residents in the complex to be vigilant,” Captain Augoustides urged.
