Rustenburg – “Explosive devices were discovered by members of a maintenance team of a townhouse complex in Rustenburg on Saturday, 23 September,” says captain Elsabé Augoustides, police spokesperson, said. 

Police members of the K9 Phokeng unit and the Explosives’ Unit were summoned to the empty townhouse which had been renovated earlier.
 
The Police confiscated 11 shock tubes and 6 blasting cartridges, found in a carry bag which was found abandoned in an upstairs bedroom. 

Members of the public are urged to always contact the Police when in doubt at the possibility of discovering explosives. 
 

  • This is the second time explosive devices were found abandoned in Rustenburg this past month. Abandoned explosive devices were found next to the Chaneng Primary School on 8 September.
