Four lives lost in devastating Rustenburg crash

Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg – Four people were killed and another seriously injured when a car collided with a bus in Rustenburg on Saturday, 22 August 2026.
According to Eagle Trauma Rescue operational manager Hennie Madeley, five people were travelling in the car at the time of the collision. “Four occupants – two men and two women – were declared dead at the scene. The fifth occupant sustained serious injuries, including a fractured and dislocated shoulder, as well as lacerations to his head,” Madeley said.
The injured man was stabilised before being transported to hospital for further medical treatment. Madeley indicated that the patient was expected to recover. It is believed that the occupants were thrown from the vehicle during the collision; however, the exact circumstances surrounding the crash remain subject to an official police investigation.
