BLOOD STOCKS ARE LOW! We need YOU.

Denel van Den Heever of Outdoor Arena Security and SANBS Rustenburg donor care officer Kgalalelo Matlhoko encourage residents to give the gift of life by donating blood.

Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg – Somewhere, a family is waiting for good news. A mother is recovering after a difficult birth, a cancer patient is facing another treatment, or a loved one is undergoing major surgery. For each of them, donated blood can make a life-saving difference.

SANBS Rustenburg is warmly encouraging residents to roll up their sleeves and give someone the chance to come home to the people who love them.

In an appeal issued on Friday 16 October 2026, the national South African National Blood Service (SANBS) warned that blood collections were falling behind demand, putting increasing pressure on national supplies. SANBS needs to collect 3,500 units of blood daily and aims to maintain a five-day supply to help hospitals care for patients when they need it most.

“The current blood supply is under significant pressure,” said SANBS senior manager for donor relations Monique Schreiner, appealing to regular donors, those who have not donated in a while, and people considering their first donation.

One donation can save up to three lives. You can donate every 56 days, and making it a regular habit helps keep blood available for patients throughout the year.

Whether you are a familiar face or a first-time donor, the team at

SANBS Rustenburg would love to welcome you. The donor centre is situated at Lifestyle Square in Beyers Naudé Drive.

Your donation could mean another birthday, another hug, or another day together.
