Minimum requirements:

  • A Grade 12
  • A qualified Auto Electrician or Diesel Mechanic or Rig Fitter with Trade Certificate from a recognised/accredited institution
  • 5 years post-apprenticeship experience
  • Experience in a TMM environment (please indicate on CV)
  • Supervisory training and a qualification will be an advantage
  • Computer literacy (MS Office suite)
  • A valid driver’s licence.

Other skills/competencies:

  • Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in English
  • Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996)
  • Sound planning, leading and organising abilities
  • Good faultfinding and diagnostic skills
  • Good team leading skills (able to motivate)
  • Familiar with mining process and maintenance requirements of related equipment and structures
  • Demonstrate the ability to assess work team and training requirements and implement programme for development.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Ensure implementation of and adherence to the Mine’s Health Safety and Environmental COPs, policies, procedures and legal requirements within area of responsibility 
  • Supervise and over-inspect subordinates’ daily activities, offer coaching and on-the-job training to ensure maintenance according to organisational standards
  • Coordinate maintenance as well as statutory inspections and audits by internal and external service providers
  • Ensure the execution of scheduled and non-scheduled mechanical repairs and installation work as required
  • Communicate with clients and supervisors to inform on maintenance activity performance and availability of equipment
  • Perform administrative functions to ensure record accuracy and availability, budget compliance and spares availability
  • Work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice, and report any observations of this not being done.
