Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • A Grade 12
  • A Permanent Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines
  • A Mine Overseer’s Certificate of Competency (Metalliferous Mining)
  • Computer literacy (MS Office suite)
  • A valid driver’s licence
  • 3 years’ experience as a Shift Boss in an underground mine (please indicate on CV)
  • Working knowledge of drill and blast design software will be an advantage (please indicate on CV).

Other skills/competencies:

  • Managerial/supervisory experience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • The ability to evaluate mine plans and designs
  • Knowledge of mining law
  • The ability to cost mining projects, layouts and conduct financial evaluations.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Assess the quality of work performed
  • Interact with all mining disciplines
  • Drive production and maintenance
  • Track projects against plans (monitor project schedules and resource allocations)
  • Ensure maintenance management system is in place
  • Develop and maintain a document management system to ensure efficient storage and access of information
  • Work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice and report any observations of this not being done
  • Ensure adherence to and compliance with SHEQ.
