Rustenburg – A young family’s life was changed in the blink of an eye, in the early hours of Saturday 21 September.

The couple, JC and Claudia Roos and their one-year old daughter were traveling on the R566 near Hartbeespoortdam when a concrete block came flying through their windscreen.

According to police spokesperson Maria Nkabinde, the concrete block hit JC (who was driving) in the face. He managed to bring the car to a standstill next to the road.

According to social media, an armed man approached them demanding cash. Claudia reportedly explained that they had no cash, but that the perpetrator could loot any valuables. The man was apparently unhappy with this offer and walked away empty-handed.

Claudia and their daughter managed to escape unscathed, but JC had to be rushed to hospital with serious head injuries. 

A case of attempted murder and robbery are being investigated.
