North West – A total of 350 suspects were arrested throughout the North West Province for various offences from Friday 1 November to Sunday 3 November. 


Of the total arrested, 177 were for liquor related crimes, 127 for drinking in public and 50 for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. 


Police spokesperson brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone revealed that a further 33 suspects were arrested for drug related crimes and two for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. He added that other suspects were taken into police custody for crimes such as shoplifting, theft, fraud, assault, rape and robbery. 

“Fines were issued for liquor and road traffic related offences. The police also managed to seize a variety of items including five knives, two pistols, eight rounds of ammunition, 633 litres of liquor and counterfeit cigarettes,” he added.  


Lieutenant general Baile Motswenyane, the provincial commissioner of police in the North West, said the operations are ongoing.
