As of midnight on Thursday 11 April 2024, the notorious Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project gantries were ceremoniously powered down. No more charges for the GFIP network, announced Transport minister Sindisiwe Chikunga. Yet, don’t toss your invoices just yet! “Motorists are not off the hook,” warned the minister.
