From copper trails to tandem triumph!

Neels Wolmarans and Malindi Schoonraad completed all three demanding days of the Namaqua Quest.
Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg – Rustenburg Cycling Club (RCC) members recently tested their endurance in two exciting cycling events – from the rugged trails of the Northern Cape to a fast-paced road race closer to home.
From Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September 2026, Malindi Schoonraad and Neels Wolmarans successfully completed the three-day Namaqua Quest in the Namakwa region. The challenging mountain bike adventure took riders through the Copper Mountains, the Goegap Nature Reserve and across a private farm outside Springbok. Both riders thoroughly enjoyed the memorable experience.
On Saturday 12 September 2026, several RCC members tackled the 91km Blue Diamond Classic Road Race at the Ditsong Willem Prinsloo Agricultural Museum near Cullinan.
Justin van der Linde and Hesca de Villiers finished in an excellent time of 2:54, securing first place in the tandem category. Johan Roos and Gregg Taylor followed closely, completing the race in 2:55.
Congratulations to all the riders who proudly represented RCC!
