
Brits Trio Task Team apprehends three suspects involved in a string of robberies
Brits – The Brits Trio Task Team, in collaboration with Crime Intelligence, apprehended three suspects aged between 23 and 25, who had committed a series of business robberies and other crimes in the Letlhabile policing areas. The trio was apprehended in Maboloka, Letlhabile, just outside Brits on Tuesday 10 October 2023, following a tip-off to the police regarding their whereabouts and their reign of terror in the community.
The suspects were arrested at different residences. During the arrests, the police conducted searches at their locations, leading to the seizure of a black revolver with eight live rounds of ammunition, various types of cigarettes, assorted cell phones, an airtime vending machine, a silver blank pistol, a crowbar, and clothing believed to have been used during the robberies. Additionally, a blue Samsung A10 cell phone and razor blades were found and confiscated by the police.
“Sello Tsietsi Nyathi, Matodzi Shuma, and Bonginkosi Masuku made their second appearance before the Brits Magistrates’ Court on 16th October. They face charges of possession of suspected stolen property, three counts of business robbery, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. Their next court appearance is scheduled for 23 October,” said police spokesperson lieutenant colonel Amanda Funani.
The Provincial Police Commissioner, lieutenant general Sello Kwena, commended all team members for their outstanding work.
