Teen’s murder case postponed again

Rustenburg – The Rustenburg community remains haunted by the loss of 19-year-old Lethabo Sibanda, a former learner at Hoër Tegniese Skool, who tragically lost his life in a fatal stabbing at the busy Rustenburg Taxi Rank in 2023.

Didintle Blessing Tladi (18), the accused in the case, has been in custody since his arrest. The case has seen several delays. 

According to Sivenathi Gunya, communications officer for the National Prosecuting Authority (North West Division), the matter was again postponed on Thursday, 20 June 2025. The postponement comes as the defence intends to apply for bail based on new facts. Contrary to earlier expectations, the case has not yet been transferred to a regional court for trial and remains in the district court while the bail application process unfolds.
