Koster Rapist Gets 15 Years Behind Bars
Koster – On Tuesday 26 August 2025, Ezekiel Ikgomotseng Seagodimo (25) was sentenced to 15 years in prison for rape. The acting Bojanala Platinum Sub-District 2 commissioner, brigadier Mamotsamai Ntoagae, welcomed the ruling, praising the diligence of the police and justice system in ensuring accountability.
The case stems from a harrowing incident in the early hours of Saturday, 17 September 2022, when a then 26-year-old woman was attacked while walking home from a local tavern. Seagodimo, accompanied by two unidentified accomplices, dragged her into nearby bushes where he raped her.
Afterwards, another suspect attempted to assault the victim. Thinking quickly, she pretended she needed to relieve herself. Seizing the moment, she managed to escape — half-dressed and terrified — running to her nearby home. The ordeal did not end there: one of the suspects followed her and tried to force open her door, threatening to kill her, but he was unsuccessful.
The woman reported the matter immediately to the Koster SAPS, leading to Seagodimo’s swift arrest after she pointed him out. His accomplices remain at large.
On top of the 15-year prison sentence, the court declared Seagodimo unfit to possess a firearm.
Brigadier Ntoagae commended the efforts of the investigating officer, detective warrant officer Phenyo Monchusi of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit, as well as the prosecution team.
