OPEL DESTROYED IN FIRE…
Rustenburg – In the early hours of Tuesday, 23 September 2025, residents of Rustenburg woke to a worrying sight: a car in flames in the field at the corner of Kerk and Bult Street, known locally as Joubert Plein.
At 05:35, Community Police Forum (CPF) Sector 2 received a phone call reporting the incident. When CPF members arrived, they found an Opel Mokka on fire. Acting CPF sector chairperson, Carlo Pasino, said: “We immediately contacted the Rustenburg Fire Department and went to the scene ourselves. Residents said they saw the car drive in, someone got out, and later the car was on fire.”
The Rustenburg Fire Department extinguished the blaze. However, the vehicle was completely destroyed, with no visible details left to trace ownership.
Pasino added: “We tried to check for things like the VIN number, but everything was destroyed in the fire.”
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and at the time of going to print, no official feedback had yet been received from SAPS or the Rustenburg Fire Department.
