MIDNIGHT FARM ATTACKERS FLEE AFTER DOGS SOUND THE ALARM
Rustenburg – A peaceful Monday night turned chaotic for a local family on the Dinie Estates Road, just outside Rustenburg, when five armed criminals attempted to force their way into a farmhouse just before midnight on Monday 10 November 2025.
At 23:53, while the rest of the household slept, the 71-year-old homeowner had just switched off the TV when he heard a strange noise at the front door.
“The security gate was closed, but the key was still in the lock. I heard them cutting at the gate, saw a shadow, and then a hand came in to grab the key. He had already unlocked it… so I grabbed his hand, got the key back, pushed them out, locked the door and ran to the bedroom,” he recalls. “There’s no time to look at faces — you watch their hands and their weapons.”
According to the footage, two suspects were at the front door, while three tried to force entry at the back. One carried a panga, another a bolt cutter, and one at the rear appeared to be holding a firearm. What ultimately sent the attackers fleeing were the dogs — barking furiously from inside the house. In the video, one suspect can even be heard muttering “Eish!” as they retreat into the darkness.
The family immediately phoned their son, the police, and security. “Our son arrived very quickly,” the victim says. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The homeowners warn residents in Arnoldistad, Dinie Estates, Kroondal and the R24 area to remain vigilant.
