
Police seek suspect in Kanana rape case
Kanana – The Kanana Police are urgently appealing to the community to help identify and locate a man linked to the rape of a 15-year-old girl. An identikit of the suspect has been released as part of ongoing efforts to bring him to justice.
According to colonel Adéle Myburgh, the incident took place on Tuesday, 19 August 2025, at approximately 18:30 in Extension 4, Kanana. The teenager was walking home when she was approached by an unknown man who threatened her with a knife and raped her. Police describe the suspect as dark-skinned, with dark eyes, and of medium height and build. He is believed to be around 25 years old or older. At the time of the attack, he was wearing a white cap and a white T-shirt, and he spoke Setswana.
Authorities are urging anyone who recognises the man or has information about his whereabouts to immediately contact the Klerksdorp FCS Unit: colonel Hariëtte McKinsey on 082 492 3785, or constable Onalena Letebele on 082 568 6909. Anonymous tip-offs can also be submitted through the MySAPS App or the Crime Stop line at 08600 10111.
