
Groceries stolen, seven arrested as police recover hijacked vehicle
Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg – Seven suspects were arrested and stolen property recovered following a police operation in the Bojanala Platinum area late last month. On 27 December 2025, members of the South African Police Service attached to Boitekong and Tlhabane Visible Policing, the Crime Combatting Unit, and the Phokeng K9 Unit acted on information that led them to the R510. There, police stopped a hijacked motor vehicle that was being towed and accompanied by two other vehicles.
According to warrant officer Ofentse Mokgadi, further investigation led officers to Tshenolo New Stand, where groceries believed to be stolen were recovered. The goods were valued at approximately R9,000.
Seven suspects were taken into custody in connection with the incident. They appeared before the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court on 30 December 2025, where the matter was postponed. The suspects were remanded in custody and are expected to return to court on 21 January 2026.
