a season of BIG BATTLES
Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg rugby supporters are in for an exciting start to 2026 as Sibanye-Stillwater SAPGM Rugby Club takes centre stage in a high-energy home clash.
On Saturday, 24 January 2026, Sibanye-Stillwater SAPGM Rugby Club will host the TUKS Rugby Varsity team in a friendly match aimed at sharpening skills ahead of the Varsity Cup season. Both the first and second teams from Sibanye-Stillwater SAPGM Rugby Club will be in action, giving fans a double dose of rugby excitement.
Head coach Joel Scherman isn’t leaving it to chance – he wants Rustenburg in the stands! “Come out, make some noise and support our team in this friendly match,” he said.
The excitement doesn’t stop there. On 20 January 2026, the Blue Bulls Rugby Union will officially launch the Sibanye-Stillwater Super League – South Africa’s largest cross-border club rugby competition. The league will feature 40 clubs from six provinces, promising fierce competition and top-quality rugby.
