Tlhabane Seeks Answers After Tragic Discovery

Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg – Residents of Tlhabane are grappling with shock following the discovery of a young man’s body in a bushy area near Lebone Street, next to Bothibelo Flats. According to a media statement released by the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Bojanala Platinum Sub-District 2, police in Tlhabane are investigating a case of murder after the body of a decapitated man was found on Thursday, 15 January 2026.

Police were alerted by the Community Service Centre after members of the public came across the body in a bushy area. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the body of an African male lying under a tree. The deceased has since been positively identified as a 26-year-old man from Rustenburg North. His identity was confirmed by a family member. At this stage, no further details surrounding the circumstances of the incident have been released, and investigations are ongoing.
