Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg – The case surrounding the murder of North-West University (NWU) student Onalenna Selebogo (21) has been postponed once again. Sivenathi Gunya, communication officer for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the North West Division, confirmed that the case against the accused, Walter Tshela, has now been postponed to 5 March 2026.

Tshela is accused of brutally murdering his girlfriend, Onalenna, whose body was discovered wrapped in sheets at a flat in Tuin Street, Rustenburg, on 3 August 2025. She had sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck.

Students and staff at NWU have previously gathered in vigils to honour her life, calling for accountability and justice. Those who knew her remember Onalenna as a warm, driven young woman with a bright future ahead of her – a life full of promise that was cruelly cut short.
