Rustenburg’s MTE Expo Sparks Opportunity
Rustenburg — From chrome to platinum, the Rustenburg leg of the Mining and Technical Exhibition (MTE) proved once again that when industry minds meet, progress follows.
Held on Thursday, 10 April 2025, at the Impala Rugby Club (in Rustenburg), the event was packed with energy, ideas, and equipment — all geared toward supporting the PGMs and chrome sector. The expo followed a successful event two days earlier at Rabboni Christian School in Brits.
From towering telehandlers to cutting-edge tech, mining companies and suppliers displayed their latest innovations. For new exhibitors, it was a chance to build connections; for established ones, a moment to catch up with clients and discuss how their needs have shifted.
“We haven’t really seen anything like this expo. It’s good to explore both the customer and the consumer,” said Ralph Shongwe, a sales representative at African Mining.
Local businesses echoed this sentiment. “It gave us mining companies a massive opportunity to showcase equipment and link with the right people,” said Tumi Mokgatle, director of Blacksand Construction.
The driving force behind it all, MTE Rustenburg director Andrew Macnamara, described the event as a success:
“We had over 400 visitors in just four hours. The show brought together representatives from various mining houses and local contractors — all about connecting buyers with suppliers.”
