Rustenburg – Newrak Impala Rugby Club’s first team are now in line to win a third Gold Cup title after they powered to a 36-20 victory over Northam Rhinos in an exciting semi-final match at Impala Rugby Club on Saturday 6 April.

Xolani Nkosi, Itu Mpete, McDonald Duma, Cheney Willemse and Berto van Wyk were among the try scorers for Newrak Impala while Siya Masuku also weighed in with his conversions.

The result means that Newrak Impala will now face Durbanville-Bellville on Sunday 14 April at Newrak Impala Rugby Club’s home grounds in Rustenburg, to decide the winner of the 2019 Gold Cup.

The final is likely to be a very closely contested encounter considering that Durbanville-Bellville registered a convincing 47-24 victory over Swallows to book their place in the all-important final match.
Newrak Impala won the Gold Cup in 2014 and 2016 while Durbanville-Bellville won the title in 2015 and both teams will now be hoping to have their names in the local rugby history books once again.
Newrak Impala will be banking on their passionate supporters in their quest to bring the Gold Cup back home.
