Pitso Mosimane Launches Soccer Revolution at Meridian Rustenburg
Rustenburg – Meridian Rustenburg officially launched the Pitso Mosimane Youth Football programme on Wednesday, 9 April 2025 — bringing with it a powerful vision of combining sport and education for learners as young as six.
Football legend and founder Pitso Mosimane was joined by head of football development Carlo Krieling, Curro Sport project manager Jared Temlett, and local school leaders Sharon de Beer and Cobus du Plessis to celebrate the occasion — with the school mascot Rusty adding a splash of fun.
“Children shouldn’t see school as just class and books. It should be a happy place,” Mosimane said.
The inclusive soccer programme will be built into Meridian Rustenburg’s Physical Education curriculum. It forms part of a Long-Term Player Development model, ensuring learners are introduced to the fundamentals of the game early — regardless of gender.
Launched in 2022 and piloted in two Curro schools in 2023, the programme expanded to 10 schools in 2024 and now reaches 18 Curro campuses nationwide, including Meridian Rustenburg.
