SAPGM Rugby on Fire
Rustenburg – Excitement is in the air for Sibanye-Stillwater SAPGM Rugby Club as they prepare for a thrilling weekend of rugby action. On Saturday, 30 August 2025, the club’s 1st team will take on Botswana’s national side in Rustenburg. Kick-off times are set for 12h00 and 14h00.
For Botswana, this is an important warm-up ahead of their test matches against Zambia. For SAPGM, it is equally vital preparation for their participation in the prestigious Gold Cup – the national club championship – kicking off on 27 September 2025.
The action doesn’t stop there. On Friday evening, 29 August, the SAPGM u/20 team will play in the semi-finals of the Blue Bulls’ u/20 Shield competition. The clash takes place at Harlequins’ fields in Pretoria at 20h10, where SAPGM’s young stars will face Harlequins’ u/20s.
“Our u/20 side finished top of the league,” said head coach Joel Scherman, adding proudly: “Rustenburg can be very proud of these boys.”
With both youth and senior teams representing the community on such a high level, local support will be key to driving them forward. For more information, contact head coach Joel Scherman on 079 754 3284.
