Rustenburg’s Louis Meintjes shines on global cycling stage

Rustenburg’s own Louis Meintjes continues to fly the local flag high on the international cycling scene. As of 10 September 2025, he is holding 17th place overall in the 2025 Vuelta a España, which runs from 23 August to 14 September 2025. 

Looking ahead, Meintjes has set his sights on the Giro d’Italia, aiming for a strong general classification result and calling the challenge “a refreshing change” 

Earlier this year, he secured a contract extension with Intermarché-Wanty until 2025, a testament to the team’s confidence in his leadership and consistency. As the most experienced rider in their Vuelta lineup, he continues to inspire teammates and fans alike.
