Ekkerds Smash Meiringspoort Half!

Rustenburg – On Saturday 11 October 2025, the scenic Optimum Meiringspoort Half-Marathon drew runners from far and wide to the dramatic ravines between Oudtshoorn and Prince Albert in the Western Cape. Among them were two dedicated athletes from the Run/Walk For Life Rustenburg club, Marelize Ekkerd and Jan-Nolte Ekkerd, who completed the 21.1 km route in a superb time of 1:46:58. This event — part road-race, part ode to nature’s splendour — challenges runners with winding sections through cliffs and river crossings, all wrapped in one of South Africa’s most arresting backdrops. Congrats!
