Rustenburg – Suprise Ndlovu, a Grade 12 learner from Boikagong Secondary School in Paardekraal, has made history as the first from his school to attend the Eskom Expo International Science Fair (ISF) — and he brought home a Bronze Medal and three Special Awards!

Representing Bojanala, North West, Ndlovu received:

  • Babcock NextGen Engineering Bursary Award – a full bursary and high-end laptop
  • South African Institute for Electrical Engineers Award – R8,000 cash prize
  • Siemens PTY Ltd Award – tablet for innovation

“Winning at the ISF was life-changing. It motivated me to persevere and achieve more,” he said. His love for science began young. “I never had toys, so I made my own from whatever I could find. That’s where my creativity started,” he shared.

Held at Emperors Palace from 6–10 October 2025, the ISF brought together learners from across South Africa and abroad. Ndlovu’s story — from a township classroom to an international stage — is one of hope, resilience, and inspiration.
