Mother and Daughter Conquer Croatia
Rustenburg – Talk about a family that races together! On 19 October 2025, Rustenburg Cycling Club (RCC) member Sharron O’Reilly and her daughter Megan O’Reilly took their passion for endurance sports across the world — to the stunning Adriatic coast of Croatia — where they completed the Playa Laguna Ironman 70.3 Race.
The event, held in the picturesque town of Pore? on the Istrian peninsula, tested athletes with a challenging 1.9km swim, 90km cycle, and 21km run. For Sharron and Megan, it wasn’t just a race — it was an unforgettable experience of teamwork, determination, and shared adventure.
Known for its crystal-clear waters, rolling green hills, and medieval charm, Istria provided a breathtaking backdrop for the Ironman challenge. The duo described it as “the experience of a lifetime”, combining sport and sightseeing in one of Europe’s most scenic destinations.
