
Martial arts masters earn prestigious Dan gradings
Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg – The Lydenburg martial arts community is celebrating two outstanding achievements after Tokon Shotokan Karate-Do International Association (TSKKIA) instructors Sensei Ankia van Niekerk and Shihan Jolanda Hietbrink successfully graded on 29 November 2025.
Sensei Ankia, an international TSKKIA champion who began training at a very young age, earned her 2nd Dan and continues to serve Lydenburg as an instructor in Tokon Shotokan Karate, Gendaiteki Ken & Iai Jitsu, and Gendaiteki Kyujitsu.
A lifelong member of TSKKIA and head instructor in Lydenburg, Shihan Jolanda achieved her prestigious 5th Dan, marking decades of dedication, leadership and contribution to the dojo.
