Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg – After a well-earned festive break, the Rustenburg Impala Rugby Club has blown the whistle on its 2026 season, officially returning to training on 6 January and setting the tone for an exciting few months of hard tackles, teamwork, and community pride.

The season warm-up begins at home on 31 January 2026, when Impala welcomes Witbank Rugby Club in what promises to be a high-energy clash and a great opportunity for local supporters to rally behind the team. From there, the squad hits the road for three challenging away fixtures: Roodepoort Rugby Club on 14 February, Harlequins on 21 February, and Randfontein Rugby Club on 28 February.

Behind the scenes, preparations are already in full swing. According to director of rugby Sydney Venter, the club is extending an open invitation to players eager to be part of the Impala journey this season. “All senior and under-21 players are welcome to join our practices,” says Venter. “Training takes place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17h45 to 19h30 at Impala Rugby Club.”

With structured training, competitive fixtures, and a strong club culture, Impala Rugby Club continues to be a cornerstone of local sport — developing players, building friendships, and flying the flag for Rustenburg rugby. For more information or to join the team, contact Sydney on 079 935 4312.
