Fast Feet, Happy Hearts at the Biogen 21km

Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg – In a spirited start to the 2026 running season, a group of dedicated athletes from Run/Walk For Life Rustenburg took to the scenic roads of the Biogen 21km & SmectaGO 5km event on Sunday, 11 January 2026 — a premier half-marathon and fun run that draws runners from across the region for fitness, camaraderie and personal achievement. 

The event, known for its vibrant atmosphere and challenging course through Bedfordview and Primrose, offered both serious competition and joyful participation for runners of all levels. 

Rustenburg’s own athletes delivered outstanding performances:

• Carmen Van Straten conquered the half marathon with an impressive time of 1:33. 
• Madelein Blignaut achieved a personal best of 1:56 over the 21 km distance. 
• Casper Blignaut showed great pace, finishing the 5 km run in 28:00. 

These results reflect not only the runners’ hard work and training but also the supportive community spirit that Run/Walk For Life fosters among its members.
